Madhavraje Patwardhan was born into the erstwhile ruling family of Miraj State. He completed his schooling at the Bishop’s School Camp, Pune, where he was twice conferred with the Air Commander Suri Shield for declamation and once with the Prize for Public Speaking. Madhavraje is the Author of a book titled “Navigating Law School in Indiaâ€; published in August 2023. Mr. Madhavraje Patwardhan was a student at ILS Law College, Pune, from 2018-23, enrolled in the integrated BA–LLB programme of the college. While in college, he opted for subjects relating to financial regulation. During his time at Law College Pune, Mr. Patwardhan was an active member of the ILS Legal Aid Centre. He handled and served over 30 clients in the in-house legal aid clinic. He was appointed as the Student Coordinator of the Legal Aid Centre and, during his stewardship, organised five legal aid and literacy camps in different villages, as well as a visit to Yerawada open jail. Mr. Patwardhan led a team of students to Madhya Pradesh to assist the Narmada Bachao Andolan and guide the victims through the resettlement process. Justice Abhay Oka (Judge, Supreme Court of India) presented the Raghavendra Phadnis Legal Aid Award to him in recognition of his efforts on the occasion of the 101st anniversary at the ILS Law College. Among his other activities, Mr. Patwardhan has also been an active member of the Corporate Law Cell and has contributed by conducting various sessions on unique aspects of corporate law. He played a crucial role in organizing a three-day certificate course on the laws relating to Venture Capital and Private Equity. He has been involved in extensive legal research while in college. He was also adjudged the runner-up in a legal essay writing competition.
