I am Mahima Chanchalani, A 3rd year (6th Semester) student pursuing B.A.L.L.B (Hons.) from
Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.
Being a fashion enthusiast, I was fascinated by the fact that the designs of some of the well-known brands were being counterfeited. I also wondered why the owner of the design was not enforcing their legal rights. Urbanic, a clothing brand, for example, has its designs counterfeited and sold at a lower price. However, the owner of the brand hasn't yet taken any action. This is due to a lack of knowledge of Fashion Law which is linked to Intellectual Property Rights.
Therefore, to understand the intricacies of this subject, I have done internships in various IP organizations like K&S Partners, Scriboard, All IP Care, etc. I was entrusted with tasks related to researching and drafting. I have a few of my articles published on Trademark & Copyright Laws. In addition, I have done certificate courses on IPR and related laws from WIPO, Bettering Results, and Fortitude Learning to enhance my knowledge of this subject.
The details discussed above are proof of my inclination toward Intellectual
Property Rights and my dream of making a career in this field. Besides this,
I have written two more articles on the topic 'Case Analysis of R. G. Anand v. Delux Films in consonance with substantial similarity and copyrightability ideas'
and 'An overview of Trademark Infringement'. I also love to read recent judicial developments on IP laws and stay up to date with IP developments.
