Delhi Public School, Ruby Park, Kolkata. I have always had a deep love for writing and reading. When it comes to reading a book, any genre would suffice as nothing beats a good read, be it mystery, fiction, fantasy, thriller or action. Apart from this, I love painting and sketching.
As a child, I always looked up to my cousin brother who is a successful lawyer and I have always wanted to be like him.
When I was in class 6, the Nirbhaya case took place, I remember feeling lost as I was not aware of how heinous the crime was. I also remember having sessions in school, which would teach us the difference between, "good touch" and "bad touch".
A few years later, I was older and more aware and on realising the extant of the crime, I was shaken and deeply affected. The
Nirbhaya case had a big impact on society and the law. There were things that the law overlooked before this landmark case. And so, in 2013, the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was amended, something that was highly called for looking back at the history of rape cases over the years. However, again our law seems to neglect another important issue: Marital Rape.
