Food is something that binds people everywhere in the world, especially in
this pandemic where people have reconnected with the art of cooking.
However this pandemic has also given rise to several food myths associated with
consumption of poultry products and covid-19. It started with people worrying
about the transmission of covid-19 by the consumption of poultry products
however this myth was busted by the food safety and standards authority of India
on their website along with many others like FSSAI's standards which said any
chocolate should be free from insects and other contaminants. Any rumor stating
that FSSAI has permitted insects in chocolate manufacturing process, are false.
This is one initiative taken by them which provides clarifications about food
myths and thus helps give the right information about food to people.
The food laws of our country are regulated by the food safety and standards
authority of India. The Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 provides the
framework for these food laws of our country along with may others.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has been set up under
Food Safety and Standards , 2006 which merges different acts and requests that
have until now taken care of food related issues in different Ministries and
Departments. FSSAI has been made for setting down science based norms for

Government of India.
