National Education Policy - 2020: Prospects & Challenges

National Education Policy of 2020 which was approved by the union cabinet of India. It is the replacement of previous education policy of 1986 which have many loopholes. It is the detailed structure of the intentional achievement to improve Indian education.

National Education Policy is the policy of the government by which they formulate laws for the better human development and India is developing nation-state in comparison to developed nation-state our education system is lacking somewhere and not so modern for the current situation. Indian laws give not only right to education but right to quality education without any discrimination.

To fulfill this National Education Policy is going to open broad way with aim to increase the gross enrollment ratio in Higher education including vocational education. The gap between previous education policies outcomes and required competitive and potential education system new reforms need to be adopted with change in time, i.e. in the hand of government.

Although education is in concurrent list where both center and state can make law but the critics are in favor of state that state's concerns go unanswered in National Education Policy. It cannot achieve only by the help of government, there is the need of participation from public sources. Allocation of 6% of GDP on education by government is good decision.

Prospects of National Education Policy - one of the important thing of National Education Policy is, it is just a policy not a law so it might be approved and kept on the table, the implications of National Education Policy is still not confirm and in future which type of laws made regarding this is also questionable whether they follow this National Education Policy or government makes law against the policy.

Although National Education Policy is still very authentic because the committee which recommend this was headed by Krishnaswamy kasturirangan who was the head of ISRO, but it is not a legal document it is just the vision of current government. If we see positive sides of National Education Policy it will build the way to achieve liberal studies, critical thoughts, creativity, visualization etc. "Education for becoming an intellectual person not only for job."

National Education Policy will help in overall development not for only bookish knowledge. The main thing about it is syllabus at different levels, it replaced 10+2 system by 5+3+3+4 so, and the syllabus should be designed in that way by central agencies.

This National Education Policy - 2020 may change our future upcoming education system. Challenges - Every coin have two sides if we see negative sides it becomes challenge for the government. Like - about implementation because National Education Policy is still on paper not practical. End of stream i.e. multiple subject choice and entry-exit option at under graduate level; is it really motivates students to do studies?

The language, National Education Policy is more focused on regional language, National language etc at Foundational stage, preparatory and middle stages having less importance to English language. English language at this time one of the most accepted language in the entire world. We have to understand the difference between learning English and learn in English medium, learning English to understand foreign things is important it is an extra skill at this time.

The commercialization of education is increasing so the government need to involve in education field. We have seen many examples of private college's fees structure and coaching institutes competition just for their own growth not for the development of the students. Education should not be charged highly so every can study easily and this problem is well addressed by National Education Policy.

"Education is the true path to a better future not for the private sectors better future." National Education Policy seems to be positive in theoretical but in practical it is challenging. Like - Teachers training for the new system, skilled teachers for the technology for modern system which is beneficial.

National Education Policy have both positive and negative sides and many challenges and by the active participation from government and their employees along with public we can transform the country into educated - skilled developed country. Government should make National Education Policy practical by implementing it and giving legal status.
