Alcoholics are affecting society at large

Alcoholics are spoiling the atmosphere of the society in this Nation and it's a shame for the Nation, for the society. There is a law for alcoholics in the Nation, but somewhere there is a lack of law and order. Now the question arises in everyone's mind who is responsible for this, is the law and order of the Nation, the citizen of the Nation or the person who is making this alcohol drug a habit.

Will the law and order of this Nation continue like this, Maximum only Twenty-four-hour punishments will solve it, as mentioned under Section 510 of Indian Penal Code,1860 as it states: Misconduct in public by a drunken Person -whoever, in a state of intoxication, appears in any public place, or in any place which it is a trespass in him to enter, and there conducts himself in such a manner as to cause annoyance any to person, shall be punished with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to twenty -four hours, or with fine which may extend to ten rupees, or with both.

Alcohol Plays a crucial role, the number of crimes and domestic violence is increasing due to alcohol consumption. ANOVA is used to identify differences in domestic violence by a pattern of drinking. The survey data on males as a result of domestic violence due to consumption of alcohol p<.001, with heavy drinkers being more apt to engage in domestic violence than social or overindulgent drinkers. p < .01 Mean scores on the domestic violence scale, which measures verbal and physical abuse towards wives and children as a consequence of drinking, were 3.5 times higher for heavy drinkers compared to overindulgent drinkers and 6.5 times higher for heavy drinkers when compared to social drinkers.

Drinking too much alcohol destroys our ability to think, ability to lower inhibitions, the person does not know what he is doing, what kind of judgement he is giving and increases the risk of aggressive behaviour as it is seen that in the state of intoxication, women become a victim of it, molesting women in a state of intoxication in a public place and somewhere domestics women are also becoming a victim of this, Because of this it has a wrong effect on the coming generation. Strict action should be taken against the people of drunk and driven cases, so there will be the least chances of them running from the Provision of Law.

For instance, a person driving a bike under the influence of alcohol as it indicates that driving under the influence of alcohol harm the drunkard or those who sit together. A father drinking alcohol in a family can lead to a result in domestic violence, Consumption of Alcohol by a diseased person are some of the examples which adversely affect society at large.

The analysis of 2013 by National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) data in India there are 15 people dies every day or every 96 minutes from the effect of drinking alcohol. The World Health Organisation (WHO) report on the consumption of alcohol in India increased by 38% from 1.6 litres in 2003-05 to 2.2 litres in 2010-12.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has observed Statistics 55% of Domestic violence or Domestic abuse perpetrators were drinking alcohol before the assault. Women who are abused are 15 times more likely to abuse alcohol. In the Oregon treatment Programs,68% of the teenage youth have mother abuse or been abused themselves.

Types of crime that occur due to consumption of alcohol are as follow:

Alcohol is a 40% factor that is responsible for violent crime. Almost 3 million violent crimes occur each year in which victims perceive the offender to have been drinking. Crimes include rape, sexual assault, robbery, aggravated and simple assault. About two-thirds of violent crimes are characterized as simple assaults.

Based on victim reports, alcohol use by the offender was a factor in:

  • 37% of rapes and sexual assaults
  • 15% of robberies
  • 27% of aggravated assaults
  • 25% of simple assaults

Changes need to be done:
  • People will have to be aware of alcoholism.
  • It should be so expensive that the least person can buy it.
  • There should be a person in every society who can tell its symptom to the people.
  • The law and order should be in such a way that action was taken out on it without complaining.
  • There should be the development of such thinking in the society which can make changes in it.
  • Strict action against drunk driving no chance let them go.
  • There should be some restriction on the liquor sold in the open in the market.
  • The Public should be made seriously aware of its harm by the government.
  • Action was taken on illegal liquor being sold without a license.
  • Restrictions on teenagers for drinking alcohol.
