Bhojpuri And Vulgarity
Bhojpuri is not a language; it's the emotion of all of those people who speak
Bhojpuri. Basically, it is also one of the oldest polite languages of Indian
culture, but in this contemporary world, the people hated on the basis of the
speaking of the Bhojpuri language. In this article, I want to discuss all
important aspects, historical background, success, and the rise of this language
and how it made international languages. At the end, I'll also discuss some
major aspects to erase the nudity from this polite language.
Origin of Bhojpuri Language:
Basically, the origin and name of the term "Bhojpuri" originated from the
district of Aara, in which the Shahabad block and Bhojpur village are located.
Actually, in the medieval period, Bhojvanshi kings who came from Ujjain in
Madhya Pradesh had settled a village in a place called Bhojpur. The Bhojvanshi
Parmar kings had named the capital Bhojpur after their ancestor King Bhoj.
Because of this, the language spoken here was named Bhojpuri.
Spread and Development:
The majority population of India believes that Bhojpuri is only the language of
the people of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand. While it speaks in many
international-level countries. Bhojpuri's influence extends to the Caribbean,
Mauritius, South Africa, Nepal, Fiji, and Fiji etc countries behind the native
regions, which were driven by migration waves during the British Colonial era in
the 19th century. It's bad luck and a lack of responsibilities of India behind
the official status of the Bhojpuri language in India; it's recognized as a
minority language, while as per the census of 2011, approximately 52.2 million
people speak Bhojpuri. But in Nepal, Bhojpuri holds scheduled official language
status.
Bhojpuri and Cinema:
Over the years, Bhojpuri has been enriched through various cultural expressions,
including cinema, music, and literary works. Films and music in Bhojpuri
resonate within India and the global diaspora, serving as a powerful means of
cultural preservation and expression. But at this contemporary period Bhojpuri
song is too much vulgar, nudity is transparent as water in latest songs. This
generation singers, directors and whole Bhojpuri industry did not know efforts
of the 1st president of India, producer Vishvanath Shahabadi and others numerous
personalities.
The first Bhojpuri film is "Ganga Maiya Tohe Piyaari Chadhaibo". This film was
released in 1963 by Vishwanath Shahabadi. But The story of the making of the
first film "Ganga Maiya Tohe Piyari Chadaibo" is something like this. In the
1960s, the first President of India Rajendra Prasad met Bollywood actor Nazir
Hussain. Rajendra Prasad discussed making a film in Bhojpuri. It took three
years to make the film and to release it. Because of this, the first Bhojpuri
film was released in the year 1963. The budget of this film was also 1.50 lakhs
at that time.
Nudity and Vulgarity in Bhojpuri:
Now we discuss nudity and vulgarity in the contemporary Bhojpuri music industry.
No doubt that the contemporary Bhojpuri song is very viral and trending in
comparison with old songs. But it totally affects the original politeness,
sweetness, and originality of Bhojpuri songs. In comparison, earlier songs and
movies were too familiar with We'll enjoy it with whole family members, but now
this time we are unable to see the Bhojpuri movie with the family. There's a new
trend started in the Bhojpuri industry in which women are shown and sung by
singers like "objects".
As responsible citizens of India, we are always away from the such types of
thoughts of the singers. I do not hate the singers and writers of Bhojpuri
songs. Their motive behind the vulgarity and nudity is to attract the mass
audience, also prioritizing quick financial gains over low-quality content or
songs. Such types of content perpetuate stereotypes about Bhojpuri cinema and
the culture it represents, defaming the rich heritage, literature, and folk
traditions of the region.
Legal Views on Industry:
The issues of vulgarity, nudity, and obscenity are always hotly debated topics
on the road to the State Legislative Assembly as well as in Parliament, but
there are no assurances and strict actions taken by any government or bodies of
state. While in the case of "Ms.A.Arulmozhi vs The Government of India,"
guidelines mandate the Censor Board to ensure that human sensibilities are not
offended by vulgarity and obscenity. It would clearly indicate that a mandate
has been issued to the Censor Board to ensure that the medium of film should
remain responsible and sensitive.
Furthermore, the Central Board of Film Certification should ensure that "human
sensibilities are not offended by vulgarity, obscenity, or depravity; as well
dual-meaning words, as obviously cater to baser instincts are not allowed;
scenes that degrading or denigrating women in any manner are not presented; also
scenes involving sexual violence against women, like attempts to rape, rape, or
any form of molestation, or scenes of a similar nature are avoided.". But all
the notable points, guidelines, and judgments of the honorable court were
violated by the Bhojpuri singers, writers, and producers.
Works of NGOs and Some Universities:
I would like to thank the administration of Banaras Hindu University; they
started the "Bhojpuri Study Centre Committee" under the Department of Bhojpuri
Adhyayan Kendra on June 22, 2009. The reasons behind the establishment of this
committee were to erase obscene and indecent songs from the Bhojpuri industry,
and it is also active in the direction of developing and expanding the Bhojpuri
of saints like Gorakhnath, Kabir, and others; warriors like Veer Kunwar Singh,
Mangal Pandey; and poets and litterateurs like Bhikhari Thakur, Rahul
Sankrityayan, Dharikshan Mishra, Gorakh Pandey, Moti B.A., and others.
There are several state government-level schemes like Maithili-Bhojpuri Academy
and other NGOs like Bhojpuri Avadhi Jhankar, Sanskritik Evam Samajik Samiti,
etc., that literally work for the benefits of Bhojpuri cultures, traditions, and
industry.
In Nutshell, we have to work for the regional language Bhojpuri, which is the
identity of individuals at large. There are several major points that played
milestones in the development of the Bhojpuri language and erasing the vulgarity
from the industry: awareness among the audiences, cultural preservation, focus
on talent, etc. At the end I conclude my article with the favorite lines of my
father from the movie "Nadiya ke paar" which are given below:
Kaun Disa Mein Leke Chala Re Batuhiya
(Which direction you are taking me to, oh, traveller?)
Yeh Thehar Thehar Yeh Suhaani Si Dagar
(Wait a minute, these soothing scenery)
Jara Dekhan De Dekhan De
(Please let me show these).
